About the position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accountant to join our team at Sky Hotels in Fresno, CA. This full-time position is crucial for managing all aspects of the company's financial records and transactions. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and proficient in accounting software, ensuring compliance with GAAP and legal standards while contributing to the financial success of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all onsite accounting functions and act as a liaison for corporate accounting requests.
• Verify the accuracy and timeliness of finance functions including daily and month-end reporting, payroll processing, income audit, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash and credit card management.
• Ensure compliance with property policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
• Prepare and file tax and license information returns, providing necessary information to auditors and implementing their recommendations.
• Establish and monitor cost and expense control systems to achieve budgeted operating results.
• Facilitate monthly P&L reviews to uncover challenges, opportunities, and trends.
• Summarize and forecast financial performance for hotels based on past, present, and expected operations.
• Generate end-of-period reports including P&L, SOI, GL, and Balance Sheet for ownership review.
• Prepare and finalize payroll while ensuring compliance with laws.
• Maintain accurate files for outstanding receivables and paid bills, and manage vendor statements and discrepancies.
• Ensure timely billing of accounts receivable with supporting documentation.
• Advise on operational adjustments due to tax code revisions and manage tax-related responsibilities.
• Develop and implement financial and purchasing strategies aligned with property objectives.
• Audit ledger weekly and inform General Managers of credit risks or potential write-offs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Proven 4 years of experience as an Accountant or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting principles and public accounting procedures.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or M3.
• Experience in financial report writing and analysis.
• Knowledge of technical accounting topics like revenue recognition and lease accounting.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
