About the position

The Accountant position at the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) involves providing financial support and analysis to ensure compliance and accuracy in accounting records. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to manage financial data and support the organization's financial health through effective monitoring and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Providing liaison support between Headquarters and Division customers on various initiatives.
  • Analyzing and evaluating relationships between financial and accounting programs and the organization's financial state.
  • Recommending and revising annual and supplemental funding requests.
  • Reviewing accounting records and program funds for compliance and accuracy.
  • Monitoring transactions in DEA's financial management system to ensure accurate processing of financial data.
  • Coordinating the year-end closeout process for DEA and customers.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • A degree in accounting or a related field with 24 semester hours in accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience in accounting or a combination of education and experience that provides professional accounting knowledge.
  • For GS-12: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 level, demonstrating knowledge of accounting laws and principles.
  • For GS-13: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 level, including examining accounting documents and preparing complex financial reports.
