About the position

The Staff Accountant at Southwestern Medical Center is responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of financial information, assisting in month-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with SOX regulations. This role combines analytical and financial principles to support the hospital's financial operations and reporting needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post multiple journal entries during month-end close processes.
• Ensure the accuracy of the Fixed Asset System.
• Generate and prepare various financial reports and spreadsheets for management and external entities.
• Reconcile various hospital balance sheet accounts in a timely manner.
• Assist in compliance with SOX and internal controls as per hospital policies and regulations.
• Support the preparation of the annual budget and cost report working papers.
• Assist in internal and external audits for the Medical Center.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration with a major in Accounting required.
• Previous experience with computer mainframes and personal computers is preferred.
• Experience in the healthcare field is preferred.
• Technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of management and outside auditors.
