About the position

We are seeking an Accountant to join our team in Lima, Ohio. The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate customer credit records, processing credit applications, and addressing customer inquiries. This role involves monitoring customer accounts and executing necessary actions to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Execute precise payment to corn suppliers, considering correct deductions for lien holders and CCC, accurate discounts for grades, and correct deductions for corn checkoff.
  • Generate and distribute corn settlements.
  • Apply corn, ethanol, DDG, and corn oil tickets daily and prepare invoices within the required morning deadlines.
  • Regularly prepare and input daily production and shipment reports.
  • Accurately and promptly prepare the Daily Position Report.
  • Act as a backup corn buyer for the Commodity Manager during his absence.
  • Assign accounts payable to the correct accounts.
  • Prepare documents for accounts payable approval and payment.
  • Review invoices for accurate sales and use tax.
  • Maintain an organized file system, filing correspondence and other records.
  • Prepare outgoing mail and correspondence, including e-mail, Federal Express, and faxes.
  • Order and maintain office supplies within the defined budget.
  • Manage the reception area; greet guests, answer telephones, and direct visitors and/or calls to the appropriate area or person.
  • Receive and organize vendor shipping documents.
  • Provide assistance to the Scale house as needed.
  • Carry out other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience in an accounting role
  • Proficiency in handling Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Demonstrated ability in data entry tasks
  • Proven experience in preparing invoices
  • Experience in cash applications is required
  • A strong understanding of general accounting principles
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred
