About the position

The Accountant position at The Energy Authority is a full-time role focused on managing complex account analysis, financial reporting, reconciliations, and project accounting. This role is integral to the organization's success, providing impactful work that influences financial transparency and supports continuous learning in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for reporting to members.
  • Perform equity analysis management, including tracking activity, allocating operating expenses, and determining member distributions.
  • Provide cash receipts and accounts receivable collection analysis on a daily basis.
  • Maintain detailed project accounting records and prepare monthly reports and invoices.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for cash, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Track and reconcile fixed assets and prepare monthly reconciliations.
  • Identify and record financial derivative transactions, ensuring daily reconciliation with futures broker statements.
  • Assist in the preparation, analysis, and tracking of annual budgets.
  • Prepare schedules and documentation to support external auditors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of public/private accounting experience preferred.
  • CPA or CPA candidate highly desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, FRX, Crystal Reports, Dynamics (accounting software), and Horizon (trade capture system).
  • Strong ability to interpret financial data accurately.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with financial derivative transactions.
  • Familiarity with budget analysis and equity tracking.
