About the position

The Accountant at Certain will be responsible for a wide range of accounting activities, ensuring the highest professional standards and attention to detail. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently as the business grows. The Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and supporting various departments within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Research, track, and resolve accounting problems.
  • Perform full cycle of accounts payable and accounts receivable duties.
  • Record business transactions and key daily worksheets to the general ledger system (From Zuora to Netsuite).
  • Maintain general ledger and sub-ledgers.
  • Interface with external auditors and management.
  • Ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with GAAP and all applicable accounting policies, rules, regulations, and laws.
  • Administer payroll for US, UK, and AUS locations.
  • Issue checks for accounts payable and apply payments on the accounts receivable side.
  • Record charges and refunds.
  • Provide inter-departmental support to sales, customer success, HR, and more.
  • File and tally deposits.
  • Match invoices to approved sales orders, set billing schedules, and send the invoices out electronically.
  • Open mail and match payments to invoices, apply credit card payments and payments via wire & ACH.
  • Arrange for money to be delivered to the bank.
  • Perform collection duties by contacting individuals with delinquent accounts and involve sales if needed.
  • Post journal entries to Netsuite.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive implementation of the solutions.
  • Download the billing report from Zuora and upload to Netsuite in a CSV file format to post the numbers to the general ledger.
  • Coordinate preparation of federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.
  • Coordinate preparing 1099's at year end.
  • Complete additional projects and analysis as assigned by the Accounting Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and internal control frameworks
  • 4+ years of accounting experience
  • Netsuite and Zuora experience preferred

Nice-to-haves

  • Software as a Service (SaaS) experience preferred
  • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills
  • Advanced excel skills
