About the position

The Accountant position at Ferguson Enterprises involves managing financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting principles. The role is designed for a self-motivated individual with a strong operational accounting background, who can thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. The position is hybrid, requiring three days in the office and two days remote, and focuses on achieving financial accuracy and efficiency within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and/or review the reconciliation of accounts, post journal entries, and maintain a complete and accurate general ledger.
• Work in assigned areas at the enterprise level, including freight accounting, inventory accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
• Participate in scheduled accounting cycles and adhere to associated deadlines (e.g., month-end, year-end).
• Prepare assigned Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) controls and ensure compliance with internal controls policies.
• Check and analyze financial information and prepare complex financial reports and accounting statements for senior management.
• Review financial reports and accounting statements to ensure their accuracy.
• Manage, operate, and participate in company-wide inventory audits.
• Focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices.
• Serve as contact for HQ and field operational requests for audits, submitting deliverables and conducting walk-throughs as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field strongly desired or equivalent proven work experience in Accounting.
• 3-5+ years of accounting and/or audit experience, preferably in a large organization.
• Knowledge of US GAAP; cost accounting experience is a plus.
• Experience with financial and accounting reporting systems, specifically Oracle.
• Distribution and/or retail experience is a plus.
• CPA license is a plus.
