About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP.
• Perform double entry bookkeeping to ensure all transactions are recorded accurately.
• Assist in budgeting processes and monitor budget performance throughout the fiscal year.
• Conduct financial report writing to provide insights into financial performance and trends.
• Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations and internal controls.
• Utilize financial software, including PeopleSoft, for efficient data management and reporting.
• Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance on best practices in accounting procedures.
• Manage accrual accounting processes to ensure timely recognition of revenues and expenses.
• Collaborate with external auditors during financial audits and provide necessary documentation.

Requirements

• Proven experience in public accounting or a similar role is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices.
• Familiarity with budgeting processes and financial forecasting techniques.
• Proficiency in using financial software; experience with PeopleSoft is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective report writing and presentations.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA certification is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in SOX compliance.
• Familiarity with submitting DIR reports and certified payroll.
