About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our team at River Valley Power & Sport. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for the marine and powersport industry. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy of our financial records and supporting the company's overall financial health.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate daily and monthly accounting, including monthly general ledger reconciliation, monthly accruals, depreciation, A/P and A/R reports and statements, and bank deposit preparation.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper valuation of inventory in accordance with accounting principles.
• Conduct regular inventory reconciliations and audits to verify stock levels and identify discrepancies.
• Prepare and present inventory reports to management, highlighting key insights and trends.
• Assist in the development and implementation of inventory control procedures.
• Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
• Conduct regular audits of financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry regulations.
• Collaborate with management to analyze financial performance and provide insights for decision-making.
• Maintain organized financial records and documentation for all transactions.
• Stay updated on relevant accounting regulations and industry trends.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• Strong computer skills
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work well in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to travel to other Red Wing, MN locations on a daily basis
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, and lift up to 20lbs as required by this role
• Have a valid state driver's license

Nice-to-haves

• CPA or CMA certification is a plus, but not required
• Familiarity with ERP systems and inventory management
• Experience working in an automotive, marine, or power sports dealership environment is preferred.
