About the position

The Accountant position at Sinclair College is designed to support the financial processes and transactions of the Senior Vice President for Workforce Development and Consulting Division. This role involves managing day-to-day accounting activities, supervising a part-time Accounting Technician, and ensuring compliance with financial reporting requirements. The Accountant will also lead year-end close activities and oversee client invoicing and payment services, contributing to the overall financial health of the division.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Part-Time Accounting Technician and support their training and development.
  • Ensure compliance and monitoring of day-to-day accounting activities.
  • Lead year-end close activities, establishing deliverables and schedules.
  • Prepare and review year-end schedules for submission to Account Services.
  • Direct the preparation and distribution of invoices to clients using QuickBooks.
  • Supervise cash management and cash flow, processing payments from various collection points.
  • Oversee the recording and posting of expenditures for non-credit businesses.
  • Balance accounts and reconcile differences with the Colleague system.
  • Support non-credit businesses in preparing and maintaining financial reports and analyses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business required.
  • Minimum of two years' work experience in accounting or a related field such as P&L required.
  • Strong commitment to honesty, trust, integrity, and confidentiality required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Technical expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and QuickBooks required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team player and possess excellent communication and customer service skills required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to synthesize information from various sources preferred.
  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) preferred.
  • Ability to work with a great deal of autonomy and self-direction preferred.
