About the position

The Accountant position at Pacer Staffing involves performing various accounting functions related to travel accounting, compliance reporting, and Department of Energy (DOE) reporting. The role requires collaboration with finance teams and program managers, processing employee travel requests, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations. The position is hybrid, allowing for both onsite and remote work, and requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance along with relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of accounting functions for travel accounting, compliance reporting, and DOE Reporting.
• Review and analyze accounting data for compliance with policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and DOE/NNSA requirements.
• Interface and collaborate with the Finance Accounting and FP&A teams, Program Managers, Project Analysts, and Travelers as needed.
• Process employee travel requests in compliance with federal regulations.
• Assist with ServiceNow case management and LaunchPad tickets.
• Reconcile travel/payroll related accounts.
• Prepare and submit assigned journal entries and account reconciliations and maintain working papers required to record accounting activities.
• Maintain subsidiary ledgers to support accounting control data and reconcile account balances.
• Develop data to be used in determining cost variances, analyze variances, prepare explanations, and investigate significant variances and account balances.
• Analyze data to identify recurring problems, then investigate and recommend corrective action.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2 years of relevant experience in accounting
• Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance if required for the position.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with and/or exposure to Federal Travel Regulations
• Experience with large travel platforms (Expense Anywhere, Concur, AdTrav, etc.)
