About the position

BAE Systems is seeking an Accountant to support the Ordnance Systems division at the Holston and Radford Army Ammunition Plant. The role focuses on ensuring accurate and timely payments to suppliers, managing accounts payable reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. The Accountant will also analyze discrepancies, process invoices, and provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide support of accurate and timely payments to suppliers
• Provide Accounts payable reporting and analysis for department
• Analyze and resolve discrepancies arising from invoicing or receiving issues
• Process invoices and clear exceptions
• Communicate professionally with other departments/management as well as with our vendors/suppliers
• Adjust General Ledger transactions as needed through Journal Entries
• Maintain productivity levels and accuracy
• Support the accounting department on reporting
• Provide exceptional customer service both internally and externally
• Ensure compliance with procedures, GAAP, DCAA and DFARS
• Maintain existing metrics and develop additional Accounts Payable metrics as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree with 1 year related experience
• Proficient with numbers and strong attention to detail
• General understanding of accounting, general ledger, or accounts payable functions
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word)
• Able to utilize computer systems to perform job duties and provide support of accounting functions
