About the position

Continental Battery Systems is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee all aspects of accounting functions within the organization. This role is crucial for managing and supervising accounting professionals, ensuring the completion of ledger accounts and financial statements, and aligning practices with the overall goals of the company. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting, with a focus on process improvements and the ability to lead a team effectively. The Accounting Manager will rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, demonstrating excellence consistently in their work. This position is full-time and typically involves an eight-hour shift scheduled between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday. In this role, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for processing sales tax, gross receipts, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and associated logs and reports in a timely and accurate manner. They will interact with divisional managers regarding scrap checks and P&L issues, ensuring that all banking logs and reports are processed efficiently. The manager will also provide prompt responses to upper management inquiries about P&L status and perform reconciliations of bank accounts, making necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy. The Accounting Manager will prepare payroll journals, vehicle journals, and any other re-class journals, while also managing conflicts effectively and maintaining a staff-centric approach. They will direct and coordinate the activities of their team, continually auditing department processes and systems for improvements in speed, quality, and cost savings. Training staff in various accounting practices and procedures is essential, as is establishing work standards and schedules for effective implementation. The role also involves planning and scheduling meetings, organizing files, conducting research, and managing projects, as well as creating spreadsheets, presentations, documents, and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of accounting functions and manage accounting professionals.
  • Complete ledger accounts and financial statements accurately and timely.
  • Process sales tax, gross receipts, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and associated logs and reports.
  • Interact with divisional managers on matters related to scrap checks and P&L issues.
  • Provide expeditious responses to upper management inquiries regarding P&L status.
  • Perform reconciliation of bank accounts and process adjustments as needed.
  • Prepare payroll journals, vehicle journals, and other re-class journals.
  • Audit department processes, systems, and technology for improvements.
  • Ensure staff is properly trained in accounting practices and procedures.
  • Plan and schedule meetings, organize files, conduct research, and manage projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field; CPA designation may be required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Accounting Manager or 7 years as Accounts Payable/Receivable Manager.
  • Experience with major ERP systems and intermediate Excel skills; NetSuite experience preferred.
  • Experience working for a company with $500M in revenue or larger, preferably private equity backed or publicly traded.
  • Proven experience in developing process improvements and SOPs.
