About the position

The Manager position at Cherry Bekaert involves managing multiple client relationships and providing technical accounting consulting services to community banks and credit unions. This role requires participation in all stages of engagements, including planning, fieldwork, and deliverable composition, focusing on strategic projects such as mergers and acquisitions, regulatory reporting, and CECL consulting. The position offers flexibility to work remotely or from various office locations, with travel required for specific projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple client relationships with a team of professionals providing technical accounting consulting.
  • Participate in all stages of engagements including planning, field work, engagement wrap-up, and deliverable composition.
  • Provide consulting services around mergers & acquisitions, CECL consulting, and regulatory reporting.
  • Assist in interim controllership and other strategic projects for community banks and credit unions.
  • Communicate effectively with professionals at all levels within client organizations and the firm.
  • Delegate work assignments to ensure project deadlines are met with a focus on details.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and active CPA license (strongly preferred).
  • 4+ years of experience in public accounting and banking/credit union accounting roles.
  • Experience with technical accounting in a banking or credit union environment.
  • Understanding of accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Experience with regulatory call report preparation and remediation of regulatory examination issues.
  • Demonstrated ownership of CECL (Current Expected Credit Loss) Standard.
  • Experience with process improvements, annual budgets, and management or board level reporting.

Nice-to-haves

  • SEC reporting experience is a plus.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous client assignments.
  • Solid organizational skills.
