About the position

The Accounting Analyst position at ONEOK is a full-time role within the RPC, Refined Products and Crude segment, focusing on Crude Revenue. This position is integral to ensuring accurate billing and revenue recognition, working closely with both Commercial and Operations teams. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal, analytical, oral, and written communication skills, as well as effective time management abilities. The role requires a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the ability to perform operational accounting activities. The candidate will be responsible for preparing, compiling, examining, and analyzing financial records and statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with reporting standards, including Sarbanes-Oxley regulations. In this role, the Accounting Analyst will collaborate with various teams to develop and implement process improvements aimed at enhancing service delivery to both internal and external customers. The candidate must be adept at managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines, demonstrating good critical thinking skills and adaptability in a dynamic work environment. The position involves independent work, where the analyst will organize, examine, and analyze information to resolve complex issues, often requiring creativity and a broad knowledge base. The work is typically completed with minimal supervision, and the analyst will be expected to take initiative in determining methods and procedures to achieve results. Essential functions include preparing and analyzing accounting records, financial statements, and reports to assess their accuracy and completeness. The analyst will document actions related to financial records, investigate discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions. Additionally, the role involves updating and maintaining accounting journals and ledgers, reconciling records with internal and external parties, and participating in special projects as assigned. This position is crucial for supporting management decision-making through the compilation and interpretation of financial data.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and assist operational accounting activities with a good understanding of GAAP.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop and implement process improvements for better service delivery.
  • Handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines effectively.
  • Investigate questionable data and recommend corrective actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records and financial statements for accuracy and compliance.
  • Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers, and records detailing financial transactions.
  • Reconcile records with internal employees and external vendors or customers.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 12+ credit hours of Accounting preferred; 4-6 years of directly related experience without a degree.
  • 1-2 years of related work experience preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA eligible preferred.
  • Strong writing and communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in using Windows operating system and accounting software.
  • Ability to work under time pressure and manage tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
