About the position

We are a small biotechnology company seeking an accounting/administrative professional to perform several administrative functions. The position is primarily an accounting role, with a focus on compliance with Federal government audit requirements. The accounting component of the role includes day-to-day bookkeeping, paying bills on time, preparing expenditure reports, preparing for annual audits, and managing employee timekeeping. A secondary role under this position will be human resources (HR) manager for the small team. Additional roles will include managing our insurance policies, keeping various registrations and permits up to date, and other administrative and operational duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping and ensure timely payment of bills.
  • Prepare expenditure reports and assist in preparing for annual audits.
  • Manage employee timekeeping and ensure compliance with federal government audit requirements.
  • Act as the human resources manager for the small team.
  • Manage insurance policies and keep various registrations and permits up to date.
  • Perform other administrative and operational duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience with federal government contracts or federal government grants.
  • B.A. or B.S. degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting and administration roles.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks.
  • Well-organized with excellent judgement.
  • Ability to work independently without day-to-day supervision.
  • Strong work ethic.
