About the position

The Accounting and Budget Analyst II position is responsible for reconciling financial accounts, preparing financial statements, and participating in the county's budget preparation and monitoring processes. This role involves analyzing financial impacts, providing technical assistance to county departments, and ensuring accurate financial reporting under the supervision of the Finance Director.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile financial accounts with the county auditor's computer system.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and other financial reports as needed.
• Participate in end-of-year closings.
• Lead work processes and projects as directed by the Finance Director.
• Prepare, review, and develop the County budget in collaboration with assigned agencies.
• Monitor departmental budgets and complete monthly and quarterly revenue and expense forecasts.
• Analyze the financial impact of internal and external factors on County activities.
• Prepare written reports communicating financial and programmatic status.
• Monitor performance and research benchmarks and best practices in the public sector.
• Provide technical and managerial assistance and training to County departments.
• Process fiscal transactions as requested, including encumbrance vouchers and employee reimbursements.
• Perform necessary analysis and calculations related to general debt obligations and financing vehicles.
• Research, identify, recommend, and develop tools for efficient budget preparation and data analysis.
• Perform quality assurance related to finance systems and applications.
• Attend fiscal meetings and training with the Finance Director.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, financial analysis, or a related field.
• Four years of experience in finance, accounting, financial analysis, or a related field.
