About the position

The Accounting and Finance Director is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and practices specific to the not-for-profit sector. The position aims to maintain financial integrity and sustainability while providing guidance and mentorship to the finance team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the maintenance of accurate and timely financial records by entering, processing, and reconciling transactions through the general ledger in accordance with established procedures.
• Lead the organization's annual audit, 990 preparation, state cost report, and annual financial reporting requirements.
• Lead the annual budget process by providing analysis, budgeting material, and other forecasting information to staff.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team, ensuring that all team members have the necessary skills and resources to perform their roles effectively.
• Compile financial information as needed (budget variance reports, general ledger updates, etc.) to support management-level decision making.

Requirements

• Proven track record in key financial operations and oversight in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial management techniques appropriate for the not-for-profit industry.
• Experience in leading audits and financial reporting processes.
• Ability to provide analysis and forecasting for budgeting purposes.
• Strong leadership and mentorship skills.
