About the position

The Accounting Associate is a key member of the accounting team and will work closely with the Finance Management and Treasury Teams on various functions and responsibilities. Responsibilities include performing a variety of accounting functions. This may include driving the completion of month-end close process, maintaining the general ledger and accounting reconciliation software, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, assisting with preparation of financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and assisting with regulatory weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual filings with regulatory bodies. A successful Accounting Associate will be detail-oriented, team-focused, willing to collaborate across disciplines, receptive to feedback, strong analytical skills, and a champion of change.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and review of daily, weekly, and monthly balance sheet reconciliations for certain general ledger accounts and drive completion of month end with preparation entire company monthly consolidation packets.
  • Support the preparation of monthly Credit Risk analysis over the many different areas of the loan portfolio and allowance for credit losses.
  • Help prepare regulatory reporting schedules and SEC footnotes.
  • Post general ledger entries and other general ledger maintenance.
  • Help maintain the Fixed Asset and Prepaid schedules.
  • Cross-train and serve as a back-up in other areas of the department as required.
  • Provide accounting support to others across the organization as needs arise.
  • Participate in the annual BETE and BETR tax filing projects.

Requirements

  • 3 - 5 years of accounting experience

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 or 4-year college degree in Business and/or Accounting
  • Previous experience within the banking industry
  • Previous bank regulatory reporting experience
  • Prior experience with accounting information systems
