About the position

Myers and Stauffer LC is seeking an Accounting/Audit Manager to join our team in Baltimore, Maryland. As a certified public accounting and health care reimbursement consulting firm, we specialize in providing audit, accounting, data management, and consulting services to government-sponsored health care programs, primarily focusing on state Medicaid agencies and the federal Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services. With over 45 years of experience, we have built a reputation for assisting our government clients with complex health care reimbursement and provider compliance issues. Our firm operates 20 offices nationwide and employs over 900 associates, all dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those in need through our work with state and federal government healthcare clients. In this role, the Accounting/Audit Manager will lead and conduct cost report and DSH audits, as well as perform final audit reviews of Medicaid cost reports and DSH surveys. The position requires a strong analytical mindset, as the manager will be responsible for analyzing financial information, performing reimbursement calculations, and preparing written documents that support professional decisions. Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct cost report/DSH audits and perform final audit reviews of Medicaid cost reports and DSH surveys.
  • Analyze financial information and perform reimbursement calculations.
  • Prepare written documents supporting professional decisions.
  • Provide strong leadership on audit engagements, supervising staff to ensure quality deliverables.
  • Assist in completing project deliverables and manage the flow of audits through required processes.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews on audit and attestation working papers and reports completed by team members.
  • Schedule field audit dates with providers and perform final review of audit fieldwork.
  • Perform various assignments relating to Medicaid reimbursement and coordinate staffing on projects to meet strict deadlines.
  • Provide high-level technical knowledge and training to staff, mentoring them with timely feedback.
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of all protected health information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • CPA certification required.
  • At least 6 years of related experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Experience leading audit engagements is essential.
  • Demonstrated high level of expertise with Medicare and Medicaid regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Well organized with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn a significant amount of information in a short time-frame.
  • Effectively manage multiple deadlines and prioritize assignments.
  • Proficient use of applicable software programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with project management (Pro Systems FX) software preferred.
  • Willingness to travel based on client and business needs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with healthcare reimbursement consulting is a plus.
  • Familiarity with state Medicaid agencies and federal healthcare programs.
