About the position

The Iowa Department of Revenue is seeking an Accounting Technician 1 to join its Financial Services Division. This role is essential for ensuring accurate accounting of state revenue collection and departmental expenses while collaborating with leadership to manage the Department's budget effectively. The position involves processing accounts payables, employee travel payments, cash receipts, and managing correspondence from the public.

Responsibilities

• Process account payables and follow internal procedures for invoice payments.
• Reconcile all accounts and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Process employee travel payments in Iowa Advantage and Workday systems.
• Distribute travel payments to personnel, including online approval and P-card travel documentation.
• Process cash receipts for licensing, liquor, and tax EFT and checks, as well as liquor and tobacco penalties.
• Manage the Accounting in-box for all correspondence from the public and route communication to appropriate personnel.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of clerical experience involving financial, statistical, or related numerical information.
• Experience with accounting systems such as Iowa Advantage/I/3, data warehouse, or IMPACT is preferred.
• Knowledge of clerical accounting methods, forms, and techniques.
• Ability to maintain financial records and prepare clerical accounting reports.
