About the position

Modern Bookkeeping is seeking an experienced on-site Accounting Clerk / Bookkeeper to join our team. We are an accounting and tax office located in Durand, MI, with hundreds of clients located across the country. Our company culture focuses on teamwork in a fast-paced client service environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing bookkeeping functions for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all tasks. This role requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to manage various accounting responsibilities simultaneously. As an Accounting Clerk / Bookkeeper, you will be tasked with entering daily sales reports and deposits, performing accounts payable tasks from invoice to payment, and handling accounts receivable tasks from billing to deposit of payment. You will also be responsible for recording bi-weekly payroll reports and reconciling client accounts at month-end and year-end. Other bookkeeping duties may be required as needed, and you will be expected to maintain a high level of organization and communication with clients and team members. The position is full-time, with an 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday, and requires you to work on-site at our office. Responsibilities

  • Perform bookkeeping functions for multiple clients.
  • Enter daily sales reports and deposits.
  • Perform accounts payable tasks from invoice to payment.
  • Perform accounts receivable tasks from billing to deposit of payment.
  • Record bi-weekly payroll reports.
  • Reconcile client accounts at month-end and year-end.
  • Complete other bookkeeping duties as required.

Requirements

  • 2 years of accounting clerk/bookkeeper experience or equivalent education.
  • Familiarity with use tax and 1099s.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Experience using accounting software.
