The company is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable full-time Accounting Clerk to join their team in Indianapolis, IN. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the accounting department in various tasks related to accounts payable and receivable. The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for processing invoices and credit card transactions, ensuring confidentiality, and adhering to company policies. Collaboration with employees, departments, customers, sponsors, and vendors is essential, as the role may also involve answering phones and engaging with the public as needed. The position requires a strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail, as the Accounting Clerk will be tasked with data entry, financial statement analysis, and reconciliation of various accounts. Effective communication skills are vital, as the role involves interaction with a diverse range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will report to the VP of Accounting & Finance and will need to build relationships across the organization, including international divisions. The work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high client service standards. This position is based at the company's headquarters in Indianapolis, IN, with the potential for limited hybrid work arrangements based on performance and departmental needs. The role is full-time, operating on a Monday to Friday schedule, and will require the employee to be present in the office, especially as the company prepares for a relocation to Fishers, IN in 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Handle accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Process invoices and credit card transactions.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure confidentiality.
  • Support account reconciliations and financial statement analysis.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, departments, contractors, vendors, sponsors, customers, and the general public.
  • Perform filing duties and answer telephone inquiries.
  • Meet all deadlines established by department heads.
  • Ensure all correspondence and forms follow company guidelines, are accurate, and free from errors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; supplemented by college-level coursework or vocational training in accounting or a closely related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Above average computer skills and capable of operating general office equipment.
  • Ability to type 55 wpm accurately.
  • Solid accounting and record-keeping ability.
  • Strong organizational skills and basic understanding of accounting principles.
  • Attention to detail in comparing figures and written information.
  • Competent in basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Sound decision-making skills and ability to use judgment effectively.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage two or more tasks at any given time.
  • Enthusiasm for interacting with the public and providing excellent service.
