About the position

The Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) is looking for a detail oriented Accounting Clerk II with excellent communication skills to join the team. This position works Monday through Friday during core business hours at the SPPD headquarters at 367 Grove St, St Paul, MN 55101.

Responsibilities

  • Process and audit invoices for accuracy and compliance with City policies, ensuring correct account coding and alignment with departmental budget allocations.
  • Prepare invoices and cash receipts for processing payments to vendors within the City's accounting system, ensuring timely and accurate disbursement to meet all due dates and compliance requirements.
  • Regularly reconcile vendor statements and cash receipts with department records, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Review and process employee expense reports in compliance with company policies, verify receipts, and code expenses accurately for reimbursement.
  • Maintain organized, accessible records for all accounts payable transactions, including cash receipts, to support audit readiness and ensure compliance with City policies and financial regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Development certificate (GED) with two courses in basic bookkeeping.
  • 4 credits of post-secondary accounting courses.
  • Two years of experience as an Accounting Clerk I or equivalent.
