About the position

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Clerk in FORT WAYNE, Indiana. This role is integral to our team, handling both payroll and accounts payable tasks. The successful candidate will report to the Controller and work in-office with eventual flexibility for some remote work. The Accounting Clerk will oversee and manage payroll using Paycom, process disbursements weekly, and administer accounts payable with a focus on automating processes for efficiency. Regular reconciliation of accounts will be required to ensure accuracy, along with handling invoice processing and ensuring timely payments. The role also involves maintaining accurate and up-to-date customer credit records, monitoring customer accounts, and taking appropriate action as needed. The Accounting Clerk will resolve customer inquiries promptly and professionally and will utilize Microsoft Excel for various accounting tasks and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage payroll in Paycom
  • Process approximately disbursements weekly
  • Administer accounts payable, with a focus on automating processes for efficiency
  • Regularly reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy
  • Handle invoice processing and ensure timely payments
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer credit records
  • Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action as needed
  • Resolve customer inquiries promptly and professionally
  • Use Microsoft Excel for various accounting tasks and reports.

Requirements

  • Proficient in account reconciliation processes and techniques
  • Demonstrated experience with Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Skilled in invoice processing and management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions
  • Experience in managing weekly account payable operations
  • Familiarity with Paycom payroll and HR software
  • Experience in handling payroll for a significant number of employees (between 101 and 500)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all work
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
  • Proven problem-solving abilities
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial information
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred but not required
