About the position

The Accounting Clerk at James Moore & Co., P.L. is responsible for providing financial administrative support to the audit team. This role involves assisting accountants in gathering and organizing financial data, verifying accuracy, preparing reports, and supporting auditors with various tasks. The position is designed for entry-level candidates who are eager to learn and grow within a dynamic accounting environment.

Responsibilities

  • Apply appropriate accounting and auditing knowledge to workpapers and assignments to ensure accurate and reliable data for clients' needs.
  • Utilize accounting and auditing software to manage client data, tasks, and documentation.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain client documentation to ensure required paperwork is accounted for.
  • Verify the accuracy of client-submitted data, identify and resolve discrepancies, and communicate necessary clarification or escalate issues.
  • Support the preparation of financial reports by gathering data, performing preliminary findings, and ensuring the accuracy of provided data.
  • Assist with the organizing, filing, scanning, and binding of financial documents.
  • Ensure all key points, decisions, and action items are documented and distributed for internal and external meetings.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory accounting and auditing standards.
  • Collaborate across various organizational departments and work with cross-functional teams to execute goals.
  • Comply with the Firm's training and continuous education requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, time management and organization skills, and attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Good aptitude for learning and understanding various technical software.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency driving results.
  • Ability to be a team player who quickly builds trust and collaborative working relationships without falling into group thinking.
  • Ability to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, professionalism, ethics, and a positive attitude.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
