About the position

The Accounting Clerk at Community 1st Credit Union plays a crucial role in providing accounting support across major financial areas. This position is responsible for the efficient and accurate processing of accounting information, both internally and for members, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process Incoming ACH/Share Draft files and returns.
  • Process wire transfers.
  • Process accounts payable.
  • Process mobile deposits.
  • Process reclamations, garnishments and levies.
  • Reconcile and post ON-US check and Money Order transactions.
  • Post general ledger entries and balance general ledger accounts.
  • Balance, post, and reconcile ATM Network daily transactions.
  • Balance ATM settlement to the general ledger.
  • Balance daily debit and credit card settlements.
  • Monitor and process ACH, Share Draft, Debit and Credit card fraud transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with OFAC for ACH, wires, and Accounts payable.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completed two years of accounting courses, or performed successfully in an accounting department position for a minimum of one year, or any combination of education and/or experience in accounting, administration, bookkeeping, or cash handling that demonstrates the ability to perform or quickly learn the required duties of this position.
  • Good math skills and a general knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks by prioritizing job responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member, while using discretion in decision making and sound judgment in problem solving.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and adaptability for departmental and Credit Union changes.
  • Excellent problem resolution with the ability to exercise confidentiality and discretion.
  • Excellent oral and written skills to effectively communicate in the English language.
  • Proficient PC skills, with the ability to learn new software.

Nice-to-haves
