About the position

The Accounting Clerk position at IIT involves various accounting and administrative tasks aimed at supporting the financial operations of the organization. The role is contract-based for an estimated length of 24 months, requiring a commitment of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Process examiner billing invoices
• Assist with entering journal entries in the General Ledger system
• Assist with preparation of Retaliatory Tax worksheets
• Sort Revenue Unit Mail and enter filings and cash receipts in the system
• Process Licensing and Corporate affairs checks
• Manually file various paper filings by filing type and company
• Add new Excess Line Brokers in the system
• File corporate tax forms
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Highly organized and careful worker
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
• Knowledge of Office of the State Comptroller policies and procedures
• High level of discretion in handling confidential matters
• Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail
• Proficient in word processing and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Knowledge of basic accounting and financial record keeping procedures
• Ability to compute, classify, and record numerical data for financial records
