About the position

The Accounting Corporate Close Process Manager will oversee the financial statement close process for a large Life Insurance organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and Statutory accounting. This role involves producing insightful commentary for management, leading initiatives to enhance efficiency, and collaborating across teams to improve outcomes. It is an individual contributor position focused on managing the corporate close process without direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and administer the corporate close process while maintaining effective controls.
  • Own daily corporate close meetings and understand process interdependencies.
  • Track late journal entries and evaluate their impact on financial statements.
  • Conduct corporate close debrief meetings to identify process optimization opportunities.
  • Articulate the status of the financial close process to leadership regularly, highlighting dependencies and impacts.
  • Manage the enterprise close task management tool process.
  • Assist in producing financial results summaries (US GAAP, Statutory, and Management Reporting).
  • Communicate emerging results to management for timely strategic decision-making.
  • Design and operationalize the process for producing US GAAP basis income statement estimations.
  • Identify and monitor control deficiencies in the corporate close process and oversee remediation procedures.
  • Administer the quarterly management letter of representation collection and review process.
  • Provide management and oversight of offshore resources.
  • Contribute to the transition to new technology solutions for process automation and improvement.
  • Manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in public accounting or a large corporate environment, including 4+ years in life reinsurance or life insurance accounting, general ledger processing, or month-end close matters.
  • 4+ years of knowledge and experience in STAT and US GAAP accounting.
