About the position

The Arc of East Central Iowa is seeking an experienced Accounting & Finance Director to oversee the fiscal functions of the organization. This role is crucial for ensuring long-term financial integrity and sustainability, adhering to generally accepted accounting principles and practices suitable for the not-for-profit sector.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the maintenance of accurate and timely financial records by entering, processing, and reconciling transactions through the general ledger.
• Lead the organization's annual audit, 990 preparation, state cost report, and annual financial reporting requirements.
• Lead the annual budget process by providing analysis, budgeting material, and other forecasting information to staff.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team, ensuring that all team members have the necessary skills and resources to perform their roles effectively.
• Compile financial information as needed to support management-level decision making, including budget variance reports and general ledger updates.
• Prepare and present financial reports to the finance committee, Board of Directors, and regulators.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other relevant field of study, or commensurate experience.
• Strong leadership qualities.
• Highly proficient in MS Excel and general knowledge of MS Office and Windows.
• Experience using accounting software.
• Experience with non-profit budgets, cost reports, and audit process desired.
