About the position

The Accounting/Finance Manager position is a critical role within our organization, located in our Centennial, CO office. This position is part of a hybrid work arrangement, requiring the employee to be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on Monday and Friday. The Accounting Manager will lead the general ledger close process and ensure compliance with monthly financial reporting requirements, including statutory audits for the entities under their responsibility. This role involves overseeing the work of staff accountants, resolving escalated research issues, and building strong working relationships with finance staff across various locations. The manager will supervise both senior and junior accountants and may also be tasked with special projects, making this a hands-on position that requires active involvement in reviewing and analyzing general ledger transactional details, balance sheet reconciliations, and resolving any pending issues. In this role, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing staff, which includes hiring, developing, coaching, and training team members, as well as resource allocation. Talent management and performance management are key components of this position, as the manager will provide mentoring and leadership to attract, develop, and retain top talent. The manager will ensure that all deadlines related to month-end and quarter-end close activities are met, reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting completed by the general ledger accounting staff. Additionally, the manager will research complex GAAP issues escalated from the staff and provide direction on technical accounting matters. The Accounting Manager will engage with staff and other functional teams to lead the resolution of accounting-related reporting and compliance issues, proactively identifying issues and leading them to successful resolution. Responsibilities also include performing due diligence related to balance sheet and profit and loss analyses, managing month-end close and consolidation of business unit financials from local ERP into Hyperion, and coordinating information exchange while monitoring system conversion testing when necessary. The manager will lead special projects related to new processes, issues, or changes in structure, and act as a liaison for the department, ensuring clean and accurate financial reporting and that all reconciliations are informative and current. Compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 legislation, as well as corporate and regional policies and procedures, is essential, and the manager will instill a mindset of continuous process improvement consistent with accounting principles and regulations.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • 6+ years of related experience, including strong experience with General Ledger, GL reconciliations, inventory & costing, international accounting & FX, BS & PL review, and internal controls.
  • 2+ years of people management experience with proven leadership capabilities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
