About the position

The Accounting/Financial Analyst role at LexisNexis Risk Solutions is a critical position within the Corporate Finance & Accounting division, focusing on revenue accounting for various business sectors. The role involves processing motor vehicle record (MVR) payments, performing balance sheet reconciliations, and providing financial support through forecasting and budgeting. The analyst will work closely with multiple teams to ensure the integrity of financial records and compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing records, analyzing and reporting accounting transactions to ensure the integrity of records for completeness and compliance with accepted policies.
  • Managing the accounting of motor vehicle records including payments, accruals, and analysis.
  • Providing financial support, including forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing variations from budget.
  • Analyzing and preparing statutory accounts, financial statements, and reports.
  • Performing accounting activities, including preparation, maintenance, and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements such as balance sheets and profit-and-loss statements.
  • Supporting month-end close process by preparing and analyzing schedules, reports, and posting journal entries, understanding the impact on financial statements.
  • Analyzing trends and explaining actual variances to prior periods and forecasts, including researching and providing appropriate support for schedules.
  • Reconciling and reviewing balance sheet accounts, including identification, resolution, and communication of reconciling items as necessary.
  • Ensuring that walkthrough documents are up to date, assisting with completion of management testing, and liaising with A&RM and EY.
  • Assisting with monitoring of compliance responsibilities, including ICQSBs, ICGS, statutory accounts, tax returns, etc.

Requirements

  • Understand basic finance and accounting principles, including P&Ls, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statements, and Chart of Accounts.
  • Can manage journal entries and understand their impact on the financial statements.
  • Possess understanding of Accounting Policy, Tax Rules, and other applicable rules and regulations for areas of responsibility.
  • Able to navigate successfully through the company's financial systems.
  • Experience in account reconciliations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of GAAP, SOX, IFRS.
  • Able to examine financial statements to ensure accuracy.
  • Display attributes as a team member to implement process, reporting, and system optimization.
  • Demonstrate detailed transaction level understanding of frequently used systems.
