About the position

The Accounting & Fixed Assets Coordinator is responsible for performing clerical duties related to the accounting department and assisting the controller with various accounting projects. This role ensures compliance with bank policies and applicable regulations while managing daily and month-end accounting tasks, including accounts payable and general ledger balancing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily and month-end balancing and accounting for bank official checks.
  • Handle accounts payable general ledger coding and posting of daily invoices to accounts payable software.
  • Prepare various month-end reports and balancing for management and board.
  • Balance General Ledger Suspense and out-of-balance accounts daily.
  • Assist with prepaid accounting and reconciliation of various due from bank accounts.
  • Monitor and escheat outstanding official checks for annual processing.
  • Maintain adequate controls over transaction risks by monitoring system-generated general ledger reports.
  • Assist the controller with projects to improve accounting systems.
  • Manage Business Continuity Plan processes related to the Accounting Department.
  • Make recommendations for departmental improvements.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Accounting or 3 years of relevant experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of state and federal banking compliance regulations and bank policies.
  • Proficient in computer terminal and personal computer operation, including Microsoft Office Excel.
  • Basic typing skills to meet production needs.
  • Proficient math skills for balancing accounts and performing calculations.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with general supervision and perform duties independently.
  • Current Arkansas driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
