About the position

Myers and Stauffer LC is seeking an Accounting Intern for Spring 2025 in Honolulu, HI. The firm has over 45 years of experience in audit, accounting, data management, and consulting services, primarily focusing on government-sponsored health and human service programs. As an intern, you will be involved in various aspects of projects, applying your academic knowledge to real-world scenarios. You will develop a solid understanding of Myers and Stauffer's services, respond to inquiries, and strive to meet the goals set by your supervisors. The internship is designed to foster professional growth, with mentorship programs and exposure to senior leadership, ensuring that you receive the support needed to succeed. The work environment is dynamic and inclusive, with a commitment to diversity and continuous education. The position is flexible, allowing for a work schedule of 20+ hours per week within a typical Monday to Friday business week. The firm emphasizes a collaborative culture, and you will be assigned a Peer Contact to guide you throughout your internship. Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of a project or work in progress and apply knowledge gained to future projects
  • Possess and apply a solid understanding of the work environment; be punctual and present
  • Develop a general understanding of Myers and Stauffer Services
  • Respond to inquiries and requests
  • Strive to attain goals established by direct supervisors
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward self, other professionals, clients, and Myers and Stauffer
  • Gain computer proficiency relative to administrative programs, spreadsheets, word processing, and internet research
  • Maintain professionalism in appearance and manner
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Intern must be working toward a Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting or related field
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 preferred
  • Active participation in student organizations and work experience in related field a plus, but not required
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Well organized with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Effectively multi-task with planning and efficiency
  • Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize assignments
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Proficient use of applicable software programs, including Microsoft Office suite
