About the position

As an Accounting Manager at Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, you will play a pivotal role in managing the Accounts Payable process and leading a small accounting team. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the month-end close, conducting balance sheet reconciliations, managing expense reports, and overseeing various special projects. This position requires you to interact with both corporate and property-level employees, corporate senior management, and various vendors, ensuring that all financial processes are executed smoothly and efficiently. In this role, you will ensure that cash flow is appropriate by initiating payments and reconciling balance sheets and statements. You will also be responsible for training and mentoring the accounting team, providing continual feedback to enhance their performance. Monthly forecasting will be a key part of your duties, which will involve collaboration with department heads and senior leaders to ensure accurate financial planning. You will be tasked with identifying and evaluating opportunities to streamline accounting processes while maintaining accuracy and timeliness. Additionally, you will serve as the primary contact for external auditors during annual financial statement audits and will handle the preparation of Tourism Tax returns. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the Hospitality industry.
  • Fundamental understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and coach a team.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills; task prioritization and effective time management.
  • Strong written, presentation, and informal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand issues and problem solve in a timely manner.
  • Comfortable working independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, with emphasis on Excel.
  • Prior experience using accounting software, experience with PeopleSoft and/or Blackline is preferred.
  • Up-to-date technology expertise.
