About the position

The AMS global accounting team is an integral part of the Accounting and Reporting team at ByteDance, responsible for overseeing general accounting functions across the Americas, including the US, Canada, and LATAM. As an Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing the month-end closing process, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing technical support for various accounting projects. You will also be involved in year-end reporting and addressing audit inquiries as needed. In this position, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external auditors to provide valuable insights that support business operations. Your responsibilities will include maintaining an accounting policy manual that reflects new accounting standards issued by relevant authorities, assessing their impact on the company, and implementing these standards as required. You will be expected to stay current with relevant accounting standards and assess their operational implications, ensuring that the company remains compliant with US GAAP and IFRS. The role requires a proactive approach to research accounting implications of business changes, working in collaboration with ByteDance's accounting headquarters in Beijing. You will partner with global accounting and reporting teams to operationalize accounting for complex transactions and coordinate with accounting firms to manage bookkeeping for American entities. Additionally, you will work closely with reporting and tax teams to ensure compliance with internal policies and effective communication across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily activities of accounting and financial operations.
  • Assist in new accounting analysis on new product launching/accounting change.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant accounting standards, and assess operational implications for any relevant changes.
  • Research accounting implications from changes in the business, staying informed on industry trends to inform internal decisions.
  • Partner with global accounting/reporting teams to operationalize accounting for complex transactions.
  • Collaborate with accounting firms to complete bookkeeping for American entities.
  • Coordinate with external and internal auditors to ensure timely completion of audit requests and assist in the research and analysis of audit issues.
  • Work closely with reporting/tax teams to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and internal policies.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of financial statements auditing, financial accounting or similar experience.
  • Analytical experience, including experience in Excel.
  • Applicable in-house TMT industry experience.
  • Experience working with business partners and engineers to effect changes.
  • Experience in optimizing or redesigning existing processes resulting from business needs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Financial reporting (US GAAP & IFRS), basic knowledge of tax provision.
  • System implementation experience.
  • Familiarity with US GAAP and the FASB codification.
  • CPA license.
