About the position

The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in the financial operations of our premier resort, which combines world-class gaming, luxurious accommodations, and exceptional dining experiences. This position involves assisting the Controller in managing the financial aspects of both the casino and hotel, ensuring that all accounting functions are performed accurately and in compliance with financial regulations. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for preparing financial reports, providing strategic insights to support business decisions, and maintaining the financial integrity of the organization. This role is essential in creating memorable moments for our guests by ensuring that the financial operations run smoothly and efficiently. In this dynamic position, the Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance. They will ensure the accurate recording and reconciliation of all financial transactions, which is vital for the overall financial health of the resort. The role also includes assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring timely reporting of financial performance, and conducting variance analysis and budget forecasting. The Accounting Manager will work closely with the finance team and other departments to provide financial insights that support operational decisions. They will also be responsible for training and mentoring junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and development. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations, contributing to the overall success of the resort.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial performance, including variance analysis and budget forecasting.
  • Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Ensure proper recording and reconciliation of all financial transactions.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with all financial regulations, company policies, and internal controls.
  • Implement and monitor internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process by providing financial analysis and insights.
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring annual budgets and financial projections.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits and assist in the preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
  • Support tax compliance and reporting requirements, including the preparation of tax returns and related documents.
  • Work closely with other departments to provide financial insights and support for operational decisions.
  • Train and mentor junior accounting staff as needed.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new accounting policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Previous experience in the casino or hospitality industry is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Oracle, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
