The Accounting Manager at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily accounting functions of the facility. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining robust internal controls. The Accounting Manager will prepare financial statements and collaborate closely with various departments to support the financial goals of the center. A deep understanding of accounting principles, along with excellent analytical skills, is essential for success in this role. In this position, the Accounting Manager will assist in the development and implementation of facility goals and priorities related to financial management, budget, accounting, purchasing, and payroll, ensuring compliance with State and Federal laws as well as ASM Global policies and procedures. The role involves supervising key accounting functions such as Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable, as well as managing personnel in these areas. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will oversee box office and coat check personnel, ensuring that all paperwork, tickets, and time sheets are prepared and audited accurately. The Accounting Manager will also be responsible for preparing and performing event settlements and bank reconciliations. This includes maintaining and assisting with the preparation of all financial reporting, which encompasses the preparation of financial statements for both the Client and ASM Global Corporate, as well as other financial reports such as monthly statements, the Annual Budget, and the Annual Report. The role requires the direction of the installation and maintenance of accounting records to accurately reflect receipts and expenditures, as well as maintaining general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property and operating expenses, and insurance records. Furthermore, the Accounting Manager will verify the accuracy of general ledger coding, participate in cost analyses and rate studies, and prepare and analyze information for financial statements and reports. The role also involves assisting in the preparation of statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues, conducting internal audits to review accounting and administrative controls, and coordinating the preparation of external audit materials and financial reporting. The Accounting Manager will work closely with auditors to verify financial information and procedures, establish system controls for new financial systems, and develop procedures to improve existing systems. Regular reviews of financial statements with management personnel will also be part of the responsibilities. In terms of supervisory responsibilities, the Accounting Manager will directly supervise administrative employees in the Finance Department, carrying out responsibilities in accordance with ASM Global policies and applicable laws. This includes interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning and assigning work, appraising performance, and addressing complaints and resolving problems in conjunction with Human Resources.
