About the position

The Accounting Manager at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily accounting functions of the facility. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining robust internal controls. The Accounting Manager will prepare financial statements and collaborate closely with various departments to support the financial goals of the center. A deep understanding of accounting principles, along with excellent analytical skills, is essential for success in this role. In this position, the Accounting Manager will assist in the development and implementation of facility goals and priorities related to financial management, budget, accounting, purchasing, and payroll, ensuring compliance with State and Federal laws as well as ASM Global policies and procedures. The role involves supervising key accounting functions such as Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable, as well as managing personnel in these areas. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will oversee box office and coat check personnel, ensuring that all paperwork, tickets, and time sheets are prepared and audited accurately. The Accounting Manager will also be responsible for preparing and performing event settlements and bank reconciliations. This includes maintaining and assisting with the preparation of all financial reporting, which encompasses the preparation of financial statements for both the Client and ASM Global Corporate, as well as other financial reports such as monthly statements, the Annual Budget, and the Annual Report. The role requires directing the installation and maintenance of accounting records to accurately reflect receipts and expenditures, maintaining general and subsidiary ledgers, and verifying the accuracy of general ledger coding. Furthermore, the Accounting Manager will participate in cost analyses and rate studies, prepare and analyze information for financial statements and reports, and assist in preparing statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues. Internal audits will be conducted to review accounting and administrative controls, and the Accounting Manager will coordinate the preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting, working closely with auditors to verify financial information and procedures. This position also involves establishing system controls for new financial systems and developing procedures to improve existing systems. The Accounting Manager will review financial statements with management personnel and assist in the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls. As a supervisory role, the Accounting Manager will directly supervise administrative employees in the Finance Department, carrying out responsibilities in accordance with ASM Global policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, and appraising performance.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development and implementation of facility goals and priorities relating to financial management, budget, accounting, purchasing, and payroll in compliance with State and Federal law, and ASM Global policies and procedures.
  • Supervises Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and other accounting functions and personnel.
  • Supervises and schedules box office and coat check personnel. Prepares and audits all paperwork, tickets, time sheets, etc.
  • Prepares and performs or assists with event settlements.
  • Prepares and performs bank reconciliations.
  • Maintains and assists with the preparation of all financial reporting, including preparation of financial statements for the Client and ASM Global Corporate, and other financial reports, including monthly statements, Annual Budget and Annual Report.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university.
  • 3+ years related experience and/or training in public accounting and/or finance management at supervisory level or as a department head.
  • Extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting.
  • Excellent math skills; high aptitude for figures.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational ability.
  • Ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information is required.
  • Effective supervisory skills.
