About the position

The Accounting Manager for the FA Contracts Team at Compass Group is responsible for overseeing a team of accountants to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and financial accuracy. This role involves managing day-to-day performance, policy creation, contract interpretation, and collaboration with various internal departments. The position also focuses on continuous process improvement and maintaining high internal control standards.

Responsibilities

  • Direct management of a team of accountants in support of contractual obligations within sector operations.
  • Hiring, training, and development of associates.
  • Management and measurement of day-to-day performance to expectations.
  • Communicating, reviewing, and tracking KPIs and annual appraisals.
  • Policy creation regarding client commitments, commissions, and profit splits.
  • Contract interpretation and decision making to ensure compliance with contract terms.
  • Partnering with internal departments such as Corporate Accounting, Legal, and Field Finance.
  • Maintaining the highest degree of internal control possible.
  • Analyzing profit and loss statements and balance sheets for misstatements.
  • Conducting monthly detailed reviews of balance sheet accounts and escalating major issues.
  • Verifying entries in accordance with IFRS, GAAP, and specific contractual terms.
  • Overseeing the accounting close process each period.
  • Ensuring fulfillment of Service Level Agreements to the field and internal customers.
  • Training field personnel on accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ad hoc reporting and projects as needed.
  • Executing and supporting change management and sharing best practices across Field Accounting.
  • Continuously seeking out possibilities to improve processes and increase efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA/CMA/MBA preferred.
  • 5 years of accounting experience with 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • 3+ years Field Accounting experience preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Proven leadership ability.
  • Ability to work under pressure of tight deadlines.
  • Quick learner and self-motivated, as well as resilient.
  • Experience with contract interpretation is a plus.
  • Proven ability to influence and manage resources.
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel; SAP experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Hyperion/Essbase is a plus.
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of associates.
