About the position

The Accounting Manager at Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and accounting processes. This position is responsible for overseeing the monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close, which is essential for maintaining the integrity of the college's financial records. The Accounting Manager will develop and maintain financial record-keeping and reporting systems, ensuring that all financial statements are prepared accurately and in compliance with applicable regulations. This includes preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, as well as assisting with regulatory reporting as necessary. In addition to financial reporting, the Accounting Manager will be tasked with preparing and reviewing ledger entries and monthly reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger system, and reviewing monthly prepaid and fixed asset roll forwards along with related schedules. The role also involves assisting with the completion of the State's annual operating report and preparing, reviewing, and analyzing statistical and financial reports for both internal and external distribution. The Accounting Manager will review bank reconciliations and corporate credit card reconciliations, assist with the quarterly review and annual audit, and develop, implement, and maintain internal financial controls and procedures. The position requires research into accounting issues to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and involves completing annual calculations for auditors, including vacation accrual and termination benefits. The Accounting Manager will also prepare documents and work directly with the college's actuary, manage the Plant Fund, and, upon approval by the Board of Trustees, assume responsibility for the authorization of college-wide disbursements and wire transfers. Additional duties may be assigned by the Comptroller as needed. This is a full-time, 12-month Management Confidential position with a competitive salary range.
