About the position

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the General Accounting functions for Methodist Medical Group and its hospitals while supervising a professional staff of three. This role ensures that financial reporting needs are met and financial statements are presented in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and corporate policy. The position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as the ability to lead a team effectively. The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of financial data and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This includes overseeing the preparation of financial statements, managing the month-end close process, and ensuring that all accounting activities are conducted in a timely and accurate manner. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. In this role, the Accounting Manager will also be expected to communicate clearly and openly with various stakeholders, including senior management and other departments. Building relationships to promote a collaborative environment is essential, as is being accountable for performance and continuously looking for ways to improve the patient experience. The position requires a proactive approach to professional growth and engagement in building a winning team. Responsibilities

  • Manage the General Accounting functions for Methodist Medical Group and its hospitals.
  • Supervise a professional staff of three.
  • Ensure financial reporting needs are met and financial statements are presented in accordance with GAAP and corporate policy.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements and manage the month-end close process.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years related work experience, previous management experience preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and/or similar spreadsheet capabilities.
  • Team-oriented problem-solver with the ability to analyze complex issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interface with a multidisciplinary staff.
  • Aptitude to learn new computer systems skills.
  • PC based accounting experience preferred.
  • Ten key by touch proficiency.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
