About the position

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the General Accounting functions for Methodist Medical Group and its affiliated hospitals. This role involves managing a professional staff of three, ensuring that all financial reporting needs are met, and that financial statements are prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and corporate policies. The Accounting Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of financial data and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as the ability to lead and develop a team of accounting professionals. In addition to managing the accounting functions, the Accounting Manager is expected to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, build collaborative relationships, and promote a positive work environment. The role also involves taking initiative for professional growth and actively seeking ways to enhance the patient experience through improved financial processes. The Accounting Manager must be a team-oriented problem-solver, capable of analyzing complex issues, identifying relevant facts, and communicating resolutions clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Responsibilities

  • Manage the General Accounting functions for Methodist Medical Group and its hospitals.
  • Supervise a professional staff of three accounting professionals.
  • Ensure financial reporting needs are met and financial statements are presented in accordance with GAAP and corporate policy.
  • Communicate clearly and openly with team members and stakeholders.
  • Build relationships to promote a collaborative environment within the accounting team and across departments.
  • Be accountable for personal and team performance in financial reporting and compliance.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve the patient experience through financial processes.
  • Take initiative for professional growth and development within the accounting field.
  • Engage with multidisciplinary staff to foster teamwork and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of related work experience, with previous management experience preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and/or similar spreadsheet capabilities.
  • Team-oriented problem-solver with the ability to analyze complex issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to interface with multidisciplinary staff.
  • Aptitude to learn new computer systems and accounting software.
  • PC-based accounting experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform ten key by touch.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in healthcare accounting or financial management.
  • Familiarity with accounting software specific to healthcare organizations.
