About the position

This role involves managing a team of accountants, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing accurate financial reporting. The successful candidate will supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team, ensuring high performance and professional growth. This includes overseeing the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. The manager will also be responsible for managing the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded correctly and in a timely manner. Compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and company policies is paramount, and the manager will liaise with external auditors and tax advisors as needed. In addition to these responsibilities, the role requires collaboration with finance and executive teams to develop budgets and financial forecasts. The manager will monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis to ensure financial goals are met. Establishing, monitoring, and improving internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data is also a critical aspect of this position. The manager will oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all financial operations. Furthermore, the role involves identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy within the accounting department. The manager will provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making by senior management. Maintaining and enhancing accounting systems and software to ensure they meet the needs of the business is also a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • A Master's degree or CPA is preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience in retail or manufacturing is a plus.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting standards (GAAP, IFRS).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.
