About the position

The Power Controller position at Trafigura is a critical role responsible for the accounting management and control of all North American power ledgers and trial balances. This position involves maintaining, modeling, analyzing, and implementing hedge accounting when elected, as well as conducting technical accounting research and analysis on structured transactions, complex derivative positions, and investments. The Power Controller will also be tasked with setting up controls and processes, and ensuring system integration with respect to new power business lines. Additionally, the role includes ISO financial reporting and compliance, supporting statutory and group-level audits, and preparing legal entity financial reporting. The Power Controller will prepare both audited and unaudited financial statements for North American legal entities and provide overall financial support for commercial power trading activities in North America. The ideal candidate will possess a Chartered or Public Accountant certification and have a strong background in financial and management accounting within multinational companies, including experience with multi-GAAP and multi-currency environments. A good understanding of IFRS, particularly in areas such as derivatives, revenue recognition, and inventories (IAS 2 - IAS 32 - IAS 39 - IFRS 9 - IFRS 13 - IFRS 15) is essential. Experience in the commodities business or energy trading is preferred. Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and work under multiple deadlines, and a high level of accuracy are crucial for success in this role. Proficiency in technology, especially with multiple general ledger systems (such as Oracle and Navision), consolidation and reporting systems, BI-tools (like Business Objects and Qlikview), and Excel, is also required.

Responsibilities
