The Accounting Manager at Precision Castparts Corp. (PCC) plays a crucial role in developing, coordinating, and maintaining systems that effectively measure financial and operational performance. This position is responsible for managing various balance sheet areas, including Inventory, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Leases. The Accounting Manager will assist the Controller in maintaining a strong control environment for financial processes and will be involved with a wide range of functional areas within the company. This role reports directly to the Plant Controller. Key responsibilities include inventory management and valuation, where the manager will set and periodically change standards and charging rates. They will refine and maintain the integrity of the plant's inventory by verifying the accuracy of production and stores inventory while ensuring clean cut-offs for month, quarter, and year-end. The Accounting Manager will work in coordination with production control for cycle counts and physical inventories, and will prepare monthly and quarterly financial analysis and status reports of ongoing business activities, such as operating performance versus budget and the status of major spending activities. The role also encompasses managing the month, quarter, and year-end closes along with analysis and reconciliations. The Accounting Manager will review, analyze, and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accounts payables, accounts receivables, cash, pre-paid expenses, fixed assets, leases, and accrued liabilities. They will collaborate with internal and external auditors for financial and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) reviews and improvements, providing leadership to strengthen the internal control environment and coordinate the plant SOX program under the guidance of the Controller. In addition to these responsibilities, the Accounting Manager will assist with the preparation and review of company financial statements and statistical reporting, including journal entries and quarterly financial packages. Strong leadership skills are essential, as the manager will need to communicate and foster teamwork between finance, operating groups, division, and corporate staff. They will provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to direct reports, managing their daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly task lists to support team members in achieving timely and effective outcomes. The Accounting Manager will partner with the General Manager, Plant Controller, and other members of the leadership team, providing advice and counsel on a wide range of issues facing the business. They will also support and assist in the budget generation process and work closely with plant operations, maintenance, continuous improvement, and engineering to help these departments reduce costs as new requirements and reports are needed. Special projects may also be performed as needed.
