About the position

The Accounting Manager position at Vaco is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant with a background in inventory management to step into a managerial role. This position is with a startup manufacturer located in Westside Los Angeles, CA, and is designed for individuals who thrive in a growth-oriented environment. The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing operational accounting functions and will be responsible for the month-end close process. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, and a hands-on approach to accounting in a dynamic setting. In this role, the Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting functions, which include managing the general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. The successful candidate will implement and manage cost accounting procedures, track production costs, analyze variances, and optimize cost control measures. Additionally, maintaining accurate inventory records, conducting periodic inventory audits, and reconciling discrepancies will be essential to ensure data integrity. The Accounting Manager will also prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and internal standards. Establishing and maintaining robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy is a key responsibility. The Accounting Manager will ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations, corporate policies, and industry standards. Furthermore, this role involves supervising and mentoring the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations. The Accounting Manager will evaluate and improve accounting systems, processes, and workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy, while also collaborating closely with other departments, including Sales, Marketing, and Operations, to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 6+ years of accounting experience
  • Experience supervising or reviewing the work of others
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Related industry experience
  • Strong GAAP knowledge
