About the position

The Accounting Manager will oversee operational accounting functions and manage the month-end close process for a startup manufacturer. This role requires strong leadership skills, hands-on involvement in a growth environment, and the ability to communicate effectively while prioritizing tasks. The ideal candidate will have a background in accounting with inventory experience and will be responsible for ensuring financial accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Implement and manage cost accounting procedures including tracking production costs, analyzing variances, and optimizing cost control measures.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, conduct periodic inventory audits, and reconcile discrepancies to ensure data integrity.
• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and internal standards.
• Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations, corporate policies, and industry standards.
• Supervise and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
• Evaluate and improve accounting systems, processes, and workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Work closely with other departments, including Sales, Marketing, and Operations, to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
• 6+ years of accounting experience
• Experience supervising or reviewing the work of others
• Advanced Excel skills
• Related industry experience
• Strong GAAP knowledge
