About the position

CROWN Cork & Seal USA, Inc. is a global leader in the design, manufacture, and sale of packaging products for consumer goods. As an Accounting Manager at our Mill Park facility in Lancaster, OH, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity of all activities within the plant. This position is part of the plant management team and requires a strong focus on financial operations, including month-end closing, journal entries, variance analysis, reconciliation, budgeting, and inventory control. You will collaborate closely with the Plant Manager on all accounting issues and maintain daily interactions with our Corporate Accounting group. In this role, you will be responsible for the development of the annual budget, conducting annual standard cost updates, and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual income projections. You will also generate monthly reports for management, handle manual journal entries, and analyze direct and indirect costs. Your analytical skills will be essential as you assess operations, trends, costs, revenues, and financial commitments to project future revenues and expenses. Additionally, you will oversee the monthly closing process, which includes reviewing local Goods Received/Invoice Received reports and issuing monthly plant financials. Your responsibilities will extend to compiling and analyzing financial information to prepare entries to accounts, documenting business transactions, and performing bank reconciliations. You will analyze financial data detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports to summarize and interpret the company's financial position for management. Auditing contracts, orders, and vouchers will also be part of your duties, along with managing warehouse, shipping, and inventory control, including reporting inventories by location and conducting physical inventories twice a year. As the Accounting Manager, you will supervise payroll and accounts payable functions and develop local manufacturing metrics, including performance metrics and capacity analysis. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to develop processes and procedures in the absence of established systems. You will also be expected to perform other duties as required or assigned, contributing to the overall success of the plant's financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Development of the annual budget and annual standard cost updates.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual income projections.
  • Generation of monthly reports to management and manual journal entries.
  • Analysis of direct and indirect costs and variance analysis.
  • Monthly closing responsibility, including review of local Goods Received/Invoice Received report.
  • Compilation and analysis of financial information to prepare entries to accounts and bank reconciliations.
  • Preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
  • Auditing contracts, orders, and vouchers, and preparing reports to substantiate transactions.
  • Management of warehouse, shipping, and inventory control, including reporting inventories by location.
  • Conducting physical inventories twice a year and managing BOMS/Route and costing requests.
  • Supervision of payroll and accounts payable functions.
  • Development of local manufacturing metrics, including performance metrics and capacity analysis.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree in Business or Accounting.
  • 3 years of successful experience in a managerial position related to accounting duties in a manufacturing facility.
  • CMA designation is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of accounting concepts and GAAP.
  • Experience with a standards-based accounting system, including P&L, projections, and inter-company transfers.
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Access, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a team.
  • Strong PC skills, excellent communication skills, and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Ability to develop processes and procedures without systems in place.
  • Demonstrated project management, time management, and organization skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of AS400 software is a plus.
