About the position

Based in Manhattan and reporting to the Assistant Corporate Controller- Americas, the Accounting Manager- Americas is responsible for supervision of staff and review of workpapers, preparation of various statutory financial statements, management and execution of close process and preparation of reporting requirements to Group Team. Provide effective direction and oversight for specific functions within the accounting department including reporting, balance sheet and specific expense categories- 4 employees (currently located in the Manhattan support office). Train and develop the current accounting team, focusing on a high standard for accuracy, integrity and deadline adherence. Responsible for ensuring completion of monthly close activities, including supervision of junior team members. This includes review of junior staff work. Lead production and consolidation of monthly results, including reporting packages supporting commercial review process and quarterly / annual reporting requirements. Financial statements are currently prepared in accordance with UK GAAP for group reporting purposes, however Accounting Manager- Americas will also oversee US GAAP reconciliation and preparation of non-statutory financial statements. Work collaboratively with accounts payable, treasury, payroll, tax and FP&A on month-end close requirements. Communicate deadlines and expectations clearly. Working collaboratively with the Group Finance/Reporting team and complying with all group reporting requirements. Lead providing of support for annual audit activities with internal and external auditors. Ensure timely delivery of audit requirements (group audits and non-statutory audits) and see audits through to completion. Assist with other non-financial audits as needed. Partner with the Corporate Controller and Assistant Corporate Controller regarding the continued evolution of the accounting function capabilities (accounting/reporting requirements, process improvements, new technology and automation).

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in accounting management, with a mix of public and private accounting preferred.
  • Experience in the hospitality, retail and/or CPG industries preferred.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and academic background in accounting, finance or related field.
  • CPA required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of US GAAP reporting and regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP functionality and experience with new ERP implementation.
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially advanced Excel modeling and working with large volumes of data.
  • Strong team building skills with the ability to motivate and develop others.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of intellectual curiosity and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain collaborative professional relationships.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks concurrently.
